I have fond memories of being there to see my grandparents (Elizabeth & James Kennedy) and my Great Aunt Noan at the 134 cottage. I loved the bay at the back and the farms in the front. As kids, we would pick the blackberries across the street and my Granny would make jam with them. My Granny would also cook the periwinkles that my Mom would fetch but I wouldn't have anything to do them at the time. Maybe, I will try them next time I am there. Here's to another 100 years & beyond! |

A big thank you to Fr. Jackie Mc Kenna for saying a lovely mass and making everyone feel at home and special while expressing his historical association with the area and its residents, present and departed.
Thanks to our senior resident, Padraig Lynch, who served mass once again with his partner of old.
Thanks to the Dingle fife and drum band who set the atmosphere for the day while parading the residents and their friends through the town.
The Harbour Lodge kindly provided the venue for the mass and following reception, thanks to Kevin and his team.
To the Skellig Hotel, and the Ml.O'Callaghan band, thanks for rounding off a great day.
On behalf of the organising committee I want to say well done to all of the people who travelled considerable distances to make the centenary celebrations a huge success; and in no small measure thanks to all of the local support and sponsorship we got throughout the planning and execution of the Cottages Centenary celebrations. |

My mother had an older brother Joe, two more brothers William and Michael, and two sisters, Maura and Rose. They were all brought up at 128 with Pat and Tommy Kavanagh and their mother. All except Joe left for England before or just after the War. The farm at Clahane is still in the family and we visit five or six times a year. My mother married Michael Griffin, from The Mill Dingle, in England in 1943 but he was killed by a doodlebug in London in 1945. My mother, who spent up to six months a year at Clahane died, aged 90, in 2003. I married Ian in 1966 and we have two children and five grandchildren, all of whom are regular visitors to Dingle and Clahane.
Sorry we can't join you in October but we do hope you all have a great time.
