My Dad Denis O'Shea lived in the cottage before he moved to England (son of Kathleen). I visited the house in 1977 I was being told about the 6 foot sea wall at the bottom of the garden by my Dad, to find it wasn't actually 6 foot high as my Dad was obviously very young and small when he had lived there. It has been lovely to look at the photos and also see a Farrell living in the street. I live in Enfield North London in England with my husband and 3 children, but am very proud of my Dingle roots. Thank you for setting up this great website. |

I have spent many visits to the Wood with my friend Maura Duffy/Kennedy (no relation!) I hear that everyone had a great time and that the event was a great success...! |

Mc.Kenna and Padraigh Lynch the altar boy, looking fit as ever.
'So happy I traveled from New Jersey for the celebrations, ending up at the Skellig Hotel for a dinner dance where we danced the night away; ending with a great sing- song.
Then walking home in the wee hours of the morning with my cousins John, Anthony and Mary happy out. |

I have fond memories of being there to see my grandparents (Elizabeth & James Kennedy) and my Great Aunt Noan at the 134 cottage. I loved the bay at the back and the farms in the front. As kids, we would pick the blackberries across the street and my Granny would make jam with them. My Granny would also cook the periwinkles that my Mom would fetch but I wouldn't have anything to do them at the time. Maybe, I will try them next time I am there. Here's to another 100 years & beyond! |

A big thank you to Fr. Jackie Mc Kenna for saying a lovely mass and making everyone feel at home and special while expressing his historical association with the area and its residents, present and departed.
Thanks to our senior resident, Padraig Lynch, who served mass once again with his partner of old.
Thanks to the Dingle fife and drum band who set the atmosphere for the day while parading the residents and their friends through the town.
The Harbour Lodge kindly provided the venue for the mass and following reception, thanks to Kevin and his team.
To the Skellig Hotel, and the Ml.O'Callaghan band, thanks for rounding off a great day.
On behalf of the organising committee I want to say well done to all of the people who travelled considerable distances to make the centenary celebrations a huge success; and in no small measure thanks to all of the local support and sponsorship we got throughout the planning and execution of the Cottages Centenary celebrations. |
